Creative writing: Inspired piece on “Come On, Come Back” Second person

Have you ever pondered the idea of life? While suffering from a stream of conceptual thoughts have you ever looked to the moonlit sky and questioned yourself about why you are here? The answer is in your mind, dormant, until death.

Yet still, you search for the reason. Your first assumption is your family, your friends, they that bring you that sense of happiness when you think about the echo of their voices; were they the reason you lived? Or is there some greater purpose? One entwined with the very fabric of your soul, one that you have to fulfill, otherwise you risk the knives of un-satisfaction.

Look at yourself, in the still reflection of the winding river. Who am I? is a question constantly asked. Everything is given to you, Life, happiness, sorrow, freedom and death. Even that familiar face is given to you. We don’t ever create anything, we only use what’s given to us and shape that; into magnificent skyscrapers or complicated lives.

But all that is gone now. You shout, “Come On, Come Back” and plunge into the cool depths of the tranquil water. Never to return.
